Greetings from LaTanya Sothern

Dear fellow alumni,
Several recent events hosted by and for alumni have reminded me just how vibrant and amazing our community and campus are when we come together. Our traditional Multicultural Alumni Reunion (or “MCAR”), hosted alongside Family Weekend this year, featured amazing speakers and events—and generated quite a buzz. Check out the highlights reel and photos on our Flickr page—and make a note not to miss MCAR weekend next year.
I also am aware that there is great pain and suffering in our community because of unimaginable trials both at home and abroad. The AU Alumni Board is committed to continuing its work alongside university leadership in promoting safety, security, and support for AU students, faculty, and staff. I hope you’ll join us in all we do to support the AU community.
As always, I am grateful in this season of thanksgiving for the many ways generations of AU alumni give back to our institution and our community. I hope that this Giving Tuesday, you'll choose American University and make a difference in the lives of our students, faculty, and community. Every gift matters. Every gift makes a difference.
Gratefully,
LaTanya Sothern, SOC/BA ’92
