SOC & CMSI Present SOC PDA: Margot Susca

Thursday, February 22 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Illuminating the Bright Spots: Opportunities Amidst the Crisis: Months away from a historic presidential election, the decline of American newspapers with the rise of social media misinformation, voter apathy, and political polarization has many press watchers and media scholars concerned both journalism and democracy are in crisis. But it's really not all doom and gloom. (Really, it's not!) Dr. Susca will discuss how these concerns have created opportunities for both journalism and democracy, including this year's first phase of a $500 million philanthropic launch that promises to reinvent and restore civic knowledge nationwide. RSVP required as lunch will be provided!
