Orientation

Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle

Welcome to American University!

Welcome to life as an Eagle! At AU, we're changemakers. We’re all about building connections, strengthening community, and creating a better future. On campus or off campus, in DC or abroad, we rise to the challenges of our times – and we do it together.

The AU journey starts with Orientation. Orientation at American University is a multi-part program, with virtual summer sessions and in-person welcome events offered at the start of the fall semester. We hope that after participating in orientation you’ll feel at home, be ready to succeed and have found a community with your fellow Eagles!

Eagle Summit!

To learn more about Eagle Summit, please login to your Canvas course – each student has been placed in an online course for Orientation, and there you will find information about your Orientation Leader and Eagle Summit!

  • Your Orientation Leader will lead your through this required in-person Orientation
  • Eagle Summit is held on Wednesday 8/23 and Thursday 8/24 – students are only required to attend one date
  • The date of your Eagle Summit is assigned in advance and depends on a couple of factors including your move-in date if you’re living on campus and/or any special cohorts
  • It’s best to check in with your Orientation Leader for details regarding your specific Eagle Summit date
  • This is a full day event – breakfast through dinner – for students only!

We're so excited to meet you next week!
